Focusing on one product allows New York Fries to be the “fry specialist”, and making perfect fries every time is why our customers continue to come back to our store.


What makes New York Fries so special?

Each fry is fresh cut every morning from select Russet and Russet Burbank potatoes. At New York Fries, we leave the skin on for extra flavor and nutrition. The potatoes are then cooked in non-hydrogenated (trans fat free) sunflower oil in our unique 3-stage cooking process to create the perfect fry texture – hot and crisp on the outside, and light and fluffy on the inside. No heat lamps. No coatings. No preservatives. It’s our commitment to real, quality ingredients.


What kind of oil do you use at New York Fries?

We use a non-hydrogenated, cholesterol free sunflower oil, that is trans fat free and low in saturated fats.


When did New York Fries change their oil?

In March 2004, New York Fries became the first multi-unit fast food chain in Canada to remove the trans fats from our oil by switching from a partially hydrogenated canola oil (which was believed to be the best at the time) to a trans fat free 100% sunflower oil.


Why did New York Fries switch from partially hydrogenated oil to a trans fat free oil?

In 2004, when we switched our oil, the evidence against trans fats in our diet was just starting to surface, but was irrefutable. Scientific evidence has shown that dietary trans fats raise “bad” cholesterol (LDL) levels and lower “good” cholesterol (HDL) levels and as a result, increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Thus, it is important from an overall healthy eating perspective, to reduce both the trans and saturated fat levels of foods in our diets. I am a vegetarian. Can I eat your product?

Yes. Our fries are cooked in 100% sunflower oil, and there is nothing else, besides our potatoes, that comes into contact with our oil. We also have meal options for vegetarians, including our Veggie Works meal.


I can’t eat salty food. Can I still enjoy your fries?

At New York Fries, we add a dash of salt to our fries once they are cooked. If you prefer not to have the salt added, please advise our staff when you order. However, the salting does occur at our “dump station”, so traces of salt will come into contact with your fries from previous orders.


I have celiac disease. Can I eat your product?

We use no coatings or preservatives in our fries, and we cook our potatoes in 100% pure sunflower oil, so technically we do not have any gluten in our fries. However, there is gluten present in our stores in our seasonings on the front counter and in our sauces, so there is a small chance of cross contamination.
